Just By The Hair Of Gonzo's Chinny-Chin-Chin

After a *ahem* hairy 9th inning, the ever so gorgeous & talented Mike Gonzalez was able to notch his 34th consecutive save Friday night by getting Austin Kearns to fly out to, who else, Mr. Snoozefest himself, Jeff Francoeur. (Sorry, dude's puttin' me in a coma these days...)

Whew. The disgusting Mets (finally) lost tonight but the Phillies won. Boo! Hiss!

No ground gained for the Braves in the NL East with the 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals, but at least they didn't fall in the standings.

Congrats, Huddy, on win #10. Long over-due, my man.

It's on you, JJ! Let's get 'em again tomorrow, boyz! The time is *now* for the Braves to remove heads from asses!

(I'm such a lady...)

Shit, if the Mets can go on a tear, why can't we??

Tex!!

Atlanta Braves slugger (term used loosely so far this season) Mark Teixeira broke out in a BIG way at The Ted on Sunday afternoon. Dude went yard 3 times and drove in 4. Woot!

The Braves pummeled the Seattle Mariners 8-3, with the help of Tim Hudson's 4-hit, 7-inning shutout performance. And Brian McCann added his 14th homer of the year in the 4th inning off Carlos Silva (3-8).

Tex came into Sunday's game batting .264 and left batting .271. Not too shabby.

Oh, and he alone banked me 19 fantasy points -- my whole damn *team* only had 45!

And here's cutie-pie congratulating BMc after he drove in the winning run on Saturday. He looks like such a little boy!

Braves Win 2 In A Row

Against the New York Mets no less...

My Braves won 3-1.

I was totally geeked about the John Smoltz/Johan Santana match-up, this being the first start for John since coming off the DL. I couldn't have asked for more from the almost-41-year-old veteran!

He only pitched 5 innings, but struck out 6 and allowed only 2 hits. He also walked 2.

Johan threw 7 innings, gave up 7 hits and 1 earned run.

Since JS only pitched 5 innings, it left the onus on the bullpen to hold the lead. As in seasons past, I've done my fair share of cursing the Braves relief pitching, but today I shall rejoice.

I'm sure tomorrow I'll return to my potty-mouth ways when the bullpen is unleashed, but for now, I'll enjoy the love I feel for Blaine Boyer, Will Ohman, Pete Moylan & Rafael Soriano.

Although, I must say this: GET YER HEAD OUTTA YER ASS, SORIANO! YER MAKIN' ME NERVOUS!!!!

Ok, I feel better.

Now, it's off to Colorado for a 4-game set against the Rockies. Scheduled starters for those 4 games will be Tom Glavine, Jair Jurrjens, Chuck James & Tim Hudson, respectively.

Go Braves!!!!!

I'm Baaaaaaaaack!!

Back from 2 FAN-TAB-U-LUSS weeks in Florida where I gladly let the sun trespass where I won't even let The Hubster. Just what I needed...relaxation, baseball & beer.

As I told ya before I left, I wasn't gonna have internet access at the resort so I couldn't blog, check email or visit my fave porn sites (kidding!) while away. Doesn't look like I've missed much since I've been gone.

I did take in a much-anticipated Braves/Tigers spring training game on March 20. My brother-in-law & I are Bravos fans, The Hubster & The Spawn are Tigers fans and my dad & sis are Cubbies fans (too bad, so sad). It was great seein' Harp (bro-in-law) smilin' all night, just excited to be there.

Good news: The Braves pulled out the victory in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Bad news: I didn't see a Got Dayum Braves run score!!!!

Chipper Jones homered in the 4th to tie the game 1-1. And where was I? In the terrlit.

The Tigers went up 2-1 in the top of the last frame. Come the bottom of the inning, I was ready to leave (disgusted by the impending loss) and I had to go to the terrlit again.

As we're leavin' the stadium, we hear the fans goin' nuts!

Yep, the Braves won it on a Josh Anderson 2-run single. Mo fos!

But I still had a great time. Here are a few photos as proof that I was there. Well, I'm not in any of 'em, but you get the idea, since we're so far away that the images are grainy.

I Don't Hate Jayson Stark...Today

I used to be a huge fan of ESPN's Jayson Stark, but a couple of years ago, I fell out of love with him. I don't know why. Maybe it was a single column he wrote that really pissed me off. I don't know, I just wasn't feelin' him anymore. Hey, it happens in a lot of relationships, what can I say?

I just read this piece about the return of Tom Glavine to the Atlanta Braves and I actually *enjoyed* it!

I don't hate Jayson Stark!

Well, today anyway.

(Glavine - spring training 2008)

I was shocked -- I thought Stark would rip the Braves for bringin' back the pepaw that is Glavine; I thought he might even go so far as to predict that the Braves would finish 4th in the NL East because the team still hadn't found the fire-power it needed to solidify the rotation's Big 3.

It appears to me that Stark is actually EXCITED about the return of Glavine. And his excitement kinda fired me up, too!

Reminiscing of the fabulosity that was once the Braves starting rotation that included Glavin, John Smoltz & Greg Maddux, this was the best part:

"So take a moment, when Glavine and Smoltz come to town this summer, to ponder what they represent. They were part of something that probably isn't coming along again for the next thousand years or so."

I was already happy to see pepaw return to the rotation that features Smoltz & Tim Hudson, but had I read a shitty story from Stark on the subject, I don't think I could've taken it. It woulda been the straw that broke the spring training camel's back. I most definitely would've had to write Mr. Stark a nasty-gram telling him what an asshole he is for tryin' to bring us fans down.

But not today...

Today I say, "Thank you, Jayson Stark. Thank you for makin' me not hate you."

Tomorrow could be a different story. So right now I'm gonna ride my feelings of joy & contentment all the way to Pizza Hut. Seriously, I'm goin' to Pizza Hut.

I'm out...

C'mon Bitches!

Alright people, time to get it together. Put'cher big girl panties on and rock the shit outta the Reds tonight. I'm sick of all this inconsistency -- we can't seem to get on a roll. Almost every aspect of the team is lackluster: offense (with the exception of occasional spurts of Big Bat Syndrome), defense, starting pitchin' (with the exception of Smoltz/Hudson), bullpen (bp SUCKS!)....hell, even our attitudes & confidence are anemic! Pretty sure I've mentioned this somewhere before....oh yea.

Right now we're 5.5 games behind the Mets and 5 behind the Phillies. We've GOT to gain some ground on those teams during this 4-game series in Cincy. Then it's off to St. Louis & Florida....we gotta DO somethin'!

C'mon Bravos! Prove to me that you're a playoff team!

And just for sheer manjoyment, I present you Jeff Francoeur (a.k.a. my future second husband):
